Rigor is creating an environment in which each student is expected to learn at high levels, each student is supported so he or she can learn at high levels, and each student demonstrates learning at high levels (Blackburn, 2008).

Students Not Following Directions?
I ran across this posting from a high school teacher. She describes and provides a "test" she gives her students on following directions. I remember taking this when I was in school....the best lessons never go out of style!
