Are you working with the Common Core State Standards? One of the key issues is text complexity. Here are two short articles I wrote you may find valuable:
The Common Core Standards and Text Complexity
Providing Student Support with the Common Core Standards and Text Complexity
Rigor is creating an environment in which each student is expected to learn at high levels,
each student is supported so he or she can learn at high levels,
and each student demonstrates learning at high levels (Blackburn, 2008).

A great website for new teachers!
I've been reading Teacher Net for a couple of years. I've even done a live chat and written an article for them. I've found they are a great site, especially for new teachers. Filled with ideas, including a regular column by Rosemary and Harry Wong, there's something for everyone. I also like the message boards, as they seem to answer the most common questions teachers have. Check it out.

A Great Poem for Teachers
Need a bit of inspiration today? Look no further.
Teachers
Their sincere kindness,
warm feelings, it brings.
They guide and protect us,
under their wings.
warm feelings, it brings.
They guide and protect us,
under their wings.

Happy Valentine's Day
I have always known I wanted to be a teacher. My dad was a teacher and college professor, and my mom was a school secretary. On this Valentine's Day, I wanted to thank all teachers who put their hearts and soul into their students knowing they may not be appreciated. Thank you, and you make a difference.
